Erica Askew

Erica Askew is a mathematics education researcher at WestEd, where she contributes to various projects focused on student belonging, mathematics identity and positioning of students, secondary course development, and professional learning experiences. Her prior research examined how secondary mathematics teachers' self-efficacy and beliefs about their abilities influence their teaching practices and student outcomes. Before transitioning to research, Erica served as a secondary math teacher and school improvement specialist. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University, an M.Ed. in Mathematics Curriculum & Instruction from University of Texas at Arlington, and a B.S. in Mathematics Secondary Education from Virginia State University.
